Subscribe to my RSS feed
In case you are not yet familiar with this technology, RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. Which is a fancy way of saying you can subscribe to news and information without providing the publisher your e-mail address, phone number, chest x-rays of both your grandmothers, and anything else they think they need. RSS news does not clutter up your e-mail inbox. That's the good news.
The bad news is that you need an RSS reader program (generally referred to in geekspeak as an Aggregator (Aggravotor???).
The good news is that you can get one free without spyware and crap like that built in.
- RSS Reader (Windows)
- Omea Reader (Windows)
- Google Reader (Web-based, all platforms)
Update: The Mozilla Firefox web browser and Mozilla Thunderbird e-mail client now support RSS feeds. This is probably the easiest way to go.
HOW TO SUBSCRIBE
I will post to the feed whenever I play in public somewhere. I may occasionally post other news about local musical/arts/social events. To subscribe:
- Get yourself an RSS reader program if you don't already have one.
- Read the documentation on how to subscribe to RSS feeds.
- Copy this URL and paste it into your reader's subscribe interface:
http://www.robertp.thirdline.com/robertprss.xml
Let me repeat: with RSS you are in total control. I will never have any clue as to how many people are subscribed (or if anyone is subscribed at all!), who they are, how to contact them, or when/if they unsubscribe. You never have to give me any information about you. in fact, I don't want it! I'm information overloaded as it is. Save your details for the many rabid weasels who are slavering to get hold of it "for internal marketing purposes only"!
