Now we approach modern history. I'd gone back to school long about 1989 to learn to be a computer programmer (enough of this music nonsense!), I was working my way thru as a bicycle mechanic, when into the shop walks this guy who said he was the manager for one of those mid-scale theme restaurants somewhere nearby - I think it was actually Kokomo, making me the only one of the Kokomo Bros who ever actually payed there!

Anyway this guy's weekend lounge act had copped out on him, a friend who played there sometimes (see Trio) told him I was newly "retired" from the road and could probably do it. The $ was good, the gig was boring, but it led to some steady work and and increasing rep. around the area. So I conned one of my fellow mechanics who dabbled with photography to take some promo shots, of which I used this one.

I think I may have traded the bass you see in the wedding photo to get that disgusting acoustic guitar to be able to do the gig. What I don't remember at all is that banjo. It's definitely a Gibson (the Bluegrass banjo according to the purists) but I only remember having a Washburn. Kids - see what this lifestyle eventually does to your brain? I'm not foooling you here!
