Every now and again I was able to get my friend Larry Smeyak to sit in for an evening at the Cork & Cleaver. Larry was a veteran road musician settled down into a comfortable engineering career. Played hot rock-n-roll and tasty acoustic lead guitar. He was the first lead player to work with Carrie Newcomer. He and percussionist Dennis Leas were the other members of the regionally popuar neo-folk group Stone Soup which featured the already-awseome songrwiting talents of the still very young Newcomer. As you can see, we had some fun playin' The Cork.

After Carrie moved on to follow her rising star down the road full-time, which neither of the guys was prepared to keep up with, the ex-Stone Soupers and I used to fool around occasionally as The Stationary Willburys.
