CynIcons – Emoticons for Cynics!
And now for something completely different. So what does this have to do with "Singer - Songwriter - Eclectic Acoustic Music -
blah blah blah"?? Nothing beyond the fact that many musicians (and many more guys my age) are kind of — well, there's no pretty way
to put it — cynical! (I address this seeming disconnect further in the CynIcons documentation - a must-read if there never was one.)
Inspired by the 2007-2008 US presidential campaign (not to mention last several elections), it got to the point where the cutesy, insipid "smiley" emoticons provided with Mozilla Thunderbird just weren't cutting it when it came to expressing my true feelings. So I took the Basic Insipid Smiley Emoticon and demoted it into another one. And another. And another, as the campaign wore on, until I had created enough of these "DEmoticons" to be able to write this email:
I realized I may have struck a chord (or a nerve?) when people started replying to emails containing my DEmoticons saying, "Hey, Robert! Where did you get those? Can you send them to me?" I realized I had made a serious mistake when bunches of the people they forwarded to, along with bunches more the forwardees had forwarded to also started emailng me saying, "Hey, Robert... etc. etc." That's when I understood I had a freakin' product on my hands: CynIcons - DEmoticons for Cynics™™™ - Version 1.0. Now why couldn't I have come up with a product all these people would fall all over themselves to shell out a couple hundred bucks for? But noooooo... I hadda come up with these stupid things!
So all you nice people who have, with never a thought, inundated my inbox asking me if I can send you my CynIcons:
NO! I CAN'T! I DON'T HAVE TIME TO SEND THESE STUPID THINGS TO 800 PEOPLE! WOOPS -MAKE THAT 804. I HAVE A LIFE! ART! MUSIC! YOU KNOW – TA DA DA DUM, TA DA DA DUM!
